Goddamn Wolves, the indie rock trio from Raleigh, NC comes back to release a new captivating EP with four amazing head-banging tracks. Formed in 2018, the band takes influences from alt-rock such as the Pixies, and current acts such as The Beths and Bully. The trio consists of Chris Weilding on the lead vocals and guitar, Laura McCollough on the bass, and Drew Foglia on the drums and backing vocals. They are known to seamlessly blend the catchy infectiousness of pop music with the more raw underground rock sound. Their latest EP, is called The Doom EP, and features four solid songs that capture the band’s personality.
The first track in the EP, We’re Doomed, gives the notion that things only end when you give up, encouraging others to still keep going despite the circumstances. Everything about the song, from its instrumentals to the harmonious vocals gives an amazing experience for listeners to witness a rock song that is incredibly catchy and melodic. The loud bass, grungy guitars, and dynamic drumbeats form together a soundscape that keeps audiences moving and rocking out to the track. The song begins with an outstanding opening guitar riff and sliding bass, quickly switching to the first verse with a fast-paced rhythm that dances and changes as the song progresses. The vocals from Chris match the tone of the song perfectly, complemented and backed up by Laura. If you listen closely to the hooks in the later part of the song, you will even hear Drew making vocalizations adding a layer of introspection to the amazing soundtrack.
